Top 10 Wardrobe Basics (series)

Hey Stylish Peeps:

In the next few emails I am going to share my list of  wardrobe basics, why it’s so helpful to have them, how source and style them into your everyday looks, so you feel comfortable and look confident!
Over the years, I had my share of investing in fall trends but there are some pieces I continue to wear over and over again. Below are my top 3 FALL staples I continue to wear on repeat, kinda like a uniform to spark a little inspiration and fun into your day:

1. Ankle Boots:
Chic and comfy ankle boots are the cornerstone for fall / winter wardrobes. Style, support and a reasonable price tag may seem like an impossible trio, but is doable, so let’s ‘kick off’ your stylish looks.  Pair with cropped flared jeans, midi- skirts and yes, you guessed it: cute jogger sweat pants!

2. Black Jeans:
Find the perfect pair and you have your style -stamping blue print!  Ya’ll know I wrote a whole book on JEANS, right?  I have MANY pair, and wear them every chance I get.

My FAVS:  wide leg and flares cropped to ankle length .. to show off, you guessed it, my ankle boots!

These black Levi’s are perfect to pair with chunky sweaters, duster cardigans, leather jackets, and blazers.

3. Trench Coat:
Waterproof cotton gabardine, genuine or faux leather, single or double breasted, whatever variety you choose, a Trench Coat is the hardest working garment in fashion history.

London Fog and Burberry pretty much cornered the market on this hard working topper, but you can find one from all types of retailers + a wide range of price points.   I just got a camel faux leather coat from Zara and can’t stop wearing it.

Best of Socials:
‘It Starts with ART’! Live event @TrendsOakPark with Kristina Bailey celebrating FALL Fashion, local women owned BIZ and in support of Beyond Hunger.

We made clever outfits inspired by Kristina’s art, and talked about wardrobe challenges, including the pesky ‘jeans,, which one to buy, and how to pair boots with them’.
